The Remnants of the Industry
Exposed to public view, industrial remnants can evoke the frozen food scraps of a suddenly abandoned feast. Machines and furniture recall the noisy, bustling world of factories. These mechanical flagships, once at the forefront of technology and design, now reveal their complexity and their obsolescence. Their contemplation arouses curiosity, admiration and nostalgia, but rarely indifference, in a region where industry once symbolized economic prosperity. Long entrusted solely to enthusiasts, the preservation of industrial heritage has today also become one of the missions of museums. This installation offers a selection of 500 objects selected by the Musée d’Yverdon et région as part of its industrial heritage.
